The exhibition explores the relationship between the Finnish forest and construction by juxtaposing forest use and building materials from different periods. Three spatial installations are constructed from building materials and construction waste characteristic of different eras: natural materials, industrially produced materials, and future materials that may be returned to nature’s biological cycles.

The ecological qualities of building materials are set alongside the development of forests, from natural forests to intensively managed commercial forests and towards more diverse approaches to forest management. The exhibition invites us to consider the impact that building materials leave on nature, and how our material choices reflect our broader relationship with forests, natural resources, and their sustainable use.

The exhibition was designed and produced as part of the Earthbound collective (Anniina Kortemaa, Mimmi Koponen, Olli-Paavo Koponen, and Sirkka Köykkä) and exhibited from 25 September to 4 October 2026.
